Smithy Doings

Hello Readers!
What a month we've had! Our 6th grandson (nephew) William was born, our church hosted a camp meeting, we had the P. children for a couple of weeks and the dear Smith family from Jacksonville visited us! What fun it was to fellowship with them one on one and get to know them better!
Our Tilapia came in last week! We now have 200 little fishy's (give or take a few) out in our Florida room, growing fast we hope, till we can either sell or consume them!
Today we are trying to tie up all loose ends and pack for when Kressy calls and says it's time for her little one to come! Ah, how fun!
Well, it's off to laundry for me,
God Bless and have a great day!
Beth

The official tug-o-war contestants! Girls against the guys, which doesn't really seem all that fair, but, I bet you'll never guess which side won?!! LOL!!
Yup, it was the girls. What are the odds?
Ron stands on the side lines, "I can't believe it! C'mon boys, lets try it again!" he yells

"I can't believe their going to loose AGAIN! " Bravely Ron runs to save the day
But, alas he slips! The boys will have to win on their own now!
With their last ounce of strength the boys heave the girls across the line!! There is victory! Hurrah!

Well, here we are y'all! La Familia Smith!
At present we are scurrying around getting ready for the Campmeeting this weekend! What fun! It seems like such a long time since we've had an event!
Poor Alan and his boys have been struggling off and on with a fever so please keep them in your prayers! Esther is getting so big! She scoots and crawls off everything you put her on and looks around with the biggest, prettiest brown eyes ever. Kate has taken some 4 month photos of her that I hope she will soon blog.
We have been canning tomatoes today and Mother has fixed almost all of our repair pile! A rare occurrence indeed;)
I hope y'all are having a good week!

Anniversary cruise

In July Daddy and Mama had their 29 anniversary!! To celebrate they went on a cruise to Mexico!!
Their ship The Holiday!
The harbor in Mobile, AL.

Leaving the harbor

Their first stop was Cozumel, where they took a Catamaran out and were lifted up in the air with a sail!! Not exactly para-sailing but we're not sure what to call it.
Daddy got to do some fishing too!

Their second (and last) stop was in Chichen Itza where they went to see the Mayan Ruins!!
There is a very interesting DVD by Doug Phillips about the Mayan people in the History of the World Conference!! They were an extremely smart but horribly wicked people. Their buildings are huge and very elaborate and filled with carvings and statues of snakes and skulls.

Inside the Sports Arena, which is about the size of a football field!!
People that have studied the Mayans (like Mr. Phillips) think that in this Arena you had to throw a ball through that hoop in the wall, kinda like basket ball!
One of the thousands of statues of snakes that are EVERYWHERE!

This is a stone wall with a carving of a warrior kneeling down and his head is cut off. I'd hate to have that carving on my walls

More snakes

On the way home they stopped at a little restaurant where Mexican ladies danced with platters of jars on their heads.

While they were at sea Daddy and Mama took a tour of the kitchen!! What fun!!
These are huge soup pots!! Think of how many people we could serve with that thing!! That's what we need!!

Daddy showing a beater to what must be a massive mixing bowl

Happy Anniversary Daddy and Mama!!

Once there was a girl...

I wanted to take a little space to honor my sister Beth. I have watched her grow into a lady who loves the Lord and seeks to honor Him with her whole heart. I've seen her honor and serve her parents, encourage and inspire the other kids, and be Mom and Dad's right arm as she has helped make some of their greatest dreams come true. Thank you Beth!
Love, Alan and Katie
